About Us

Welcome to Slow to Climax!

We may be slower, but we will always get there. It’s all about the journey of the mountains or the journey of life. If you are new to mountain hiking or an experienced hiker with a slower pace, you have space here!

We offer hiking guides for beginners and slower-paced hikers. We also host classes in the classroom to teach new skills for staying safe while adventuring.

Everybody deserves space in the mountains; you don’t have to go alone. (Unless you want to! And we are happy to help you get there, too!)

Client Reviews

Jessica is a fantastic hiking guide! She perfectly captures a light hearted and enthusiastic attitude and can show you how to find the beauty in all conditions! I have always felt empowered by her to choose my own pace, whether that be to challenge myself or take it easy. She really highlights the beauty of the climb and makes it about way more than reaching summit. I highly recommend going out into the mountains with her! She is highly experienced and prepared to keep you motivated and safe out there.

Jessica made my first hike in to the great outdoors the BEST experience!!! I have been in love with the forest/woods for my entire life, but life took me in a different direction and pulled me away. Fast forward to finding Jessica on the internet through mutual friends and interests. I began living vicariously through her travels, from hike to hike…always commenting on the beauty of her hikes. Jess and I connected and she invited me to go hiking! I did not feel capable of keeping up with her and was afraid of slowing her down. Jessica persisted and stated that I could do this and she didn’t care if it took all day, we would go at my pace! I finally gave in and she planned the perfect hike…Cobblers Lookout…in her words, “the most bang for your buck.” The weather that day was less than ideal and I was still hesitant, lacking in confidence and purely overwhelmed with the idea of my out of shape self hiking. Jessica was the greatest guide though and stopped when I needed to, pointed out various vegetation, described each section of the trail, so that I knew what to expect and kept it fun!! I gained so much that day….belief in my abilities, self confidence, a new friend and my love of the environment, again! I cannot recommend a better person to lead me on future hikes and will plan on making time to go with Jessica again!!!

I have absolute admiration for Jessica! She has immersed herself in the ADK hiking culture and soaked up an incredible amount of knowledge from seasoned hikers, guides, and ADK Mountain Club Classes. She holds the required certifications and has put in countless hours of practice guiding friends on beginner hikes in the Adirondack Mountains and throughout the St. Lawrence Valley, not to mention hiking some of the higher peaks herself in all seasons. I greatly admire the way she has challenged herself…physically, mentally and spiritually. She has been one of my greatest teachers of positive thinking and “just go do it” momentum, while also demonstrating a level-headed, thoughtful, safe approach to adventuring. I appreciate someone who can speak with confidence about what she knows, while also have great respect for the reality and potential danger of the mountains and for her own limitations. I know I can trust her.
